C.C. Heritage Sport Coat
Here’s the new CC Heritage jacket I’ve been boasting about! It was a great experience working with custom clothier, Miche Casemir, to bring our vision to life.
Unlike many C.C. Heritage clients who are socialites relishing the spotlight, my style is pretty reserved as far as Instagram menswear goes. Miche did an incredible job creating a piece rich with details that stand out to fellow tailoring enthusiasts, but that is otherwise pretty tame.
Yet once you relish in those details, the subtle pattern, the button stance, the spalla camicia shoulders, and the lapel roll — that’s when you come to realize this jacket is a thing of beauty!
In fact, I’d go as far as to say that this jacket embodies my ideal vision of style: sharp, but unremarkable on the first glance, yet better and better the longer you look.
I’m particularly enamored with the spalla camicia “shirt shoulders.” They’re a great embellishment that subtly enhances a jackets appeal to Italian tailoring enthusiasts. Attaching a larger sleeve to a smaller armhole creates pleats (“shirring”) along the sleeve head, which is a signature of handwork and craftsmanship.
This detail appeals to me not only because I enjoy the aesthetic, but also because it broadcasts an appreciation for menswear that other aficionados may pick up on.
It’s not uncommon for conversations to start — and even friendships to form — over a shared appreciation of sartorial flourishes. Tribal affiliation is one of many messages that our appearance may send.
After all, our appearance is always sending a message. Being stylistically literate allows us to script that message to our liking, and this jacket is perfectly aligned with my own!
